Is Your Life Stuck In A Rut? - Here's How To Get Out Of It

I know I'm not the only who's felt stuck. Stuck in a dead end job, stuck on heart break from losing someone you love, stuck in a place of limbo where you feel like you haven't reached your full potential. Stuck emotionally, physically, and mentally. Sometimes it feels like you'll never get out of that rabbit hole or move past that plateau.Well, you’re in luck. These tips will show you ways to move past plateaus on to a place of progress and positivity. These tips have been of great assistance to me, so I'm hoping that they'll be just as helpful to you.

Stop And Smell The Roses

Acknowledge everything that you have going for you no matter how small it may seem. If it's good, then it counts. No one can belittle anything that means something to you if you truly cherish it. You just have to realize that the good things are there. By simply recognizing the positive things in your life you can start moving forward with your awesome life. So quit whining or feeling sorry for yourself. The fact that you're breathing is a blessing because it means that you're alive. The fact that you're reading this means that you've got vision to see, the ability to read, and access to internet on your computer or smart device. I can go on and on but this post would be ridiculously long. Start with the small stuff and keep counting, soon you'll realize that you've got a lot more going for you than you originally thought.

Re-evaluate Your Goals

What's your plan? It doesn’t have to be for the rest of your life, but I've found that creating a goal for at least the next year or five years can be incredibly motivating. If you create small goals and focus on mastering each one at a time within a 5 year span imagine the possibilities and accomplishments. Re-evaluate or create new goals, make a list of short term goals and stick to it. If you're willing to take on a bit of a challenge you can arrangement so that your short term goals will assist you in accomplishing your long term ones. So if you want to become the best painter you can be, make it your goal to paint something every day for a week or at least every week. By the end of the month you'll be better than when you started and by the end of the year you'll then be on your way to becoming an amazing artist.

Try Something New

There are so many hobbies and classes to try or take. Don't wait another second to go after them. Go ahead and shake your tail feather in that Zumba class. Go ahead and learn Spanish or French so that you'll be able to speak it so fluently that people would think that it was your first language. Always wanted to go salsa dancing? Well, there's no time like the present to do so. Whatever you've been saving for later may just be what you need to move forward in your life. So with that in mind, put yourself into opportunities whereby you'll be able to experience new things daily or weekly.

Volunteer

When was the last time you helped someone else out? I mean you really went out of your way to ensure their well-being. Perhaps that's the problem. You’ve forgotten how to give of yourself without expecting anything in return. Serving others allows you to learn about yourself, to give of yourself, and it serves  as a reminder to be selfless and full of compassion. It shows you that you're life matters and that you can make such a huge impact in the lives of others in need. Changing the focus in your life can make it meaningful and push you past you past that plateau. Think about it; you helping someone means that you can provide a shoulder to lean on, a listening ear to offer, or food or clothing. The fact that you're capable of doing these acts shows that you are blessed since you have those resources to give and free time to spare. It can inspire you give more, and embrace what you have to offer.

Experiment with New Recipes

What do you eat every day? Does it ever change? If not, maybe it should. The saying, "you are what you eat" is very correct. If your food is boring then maybe your life could be too. So go ahead and add a little spice where there is none. Might I suggest that you look up some new exciting recipes. Change your meals and you could change your life. Sounds funny and a bit weird but give it a try; you'll see. =)

Work It Out

Sometimes exercise is just what the doctor ordered. It releases all of those wonderful endorphins. Endorphins are neurotransmitters, chemicals that pass along signals from one neuron to the next. Endorphins are credited for those euphoric highs produced as a response to certain stimuli like sex, exercise, stress, fear or pain. Take time to get up and get moving. Exercise your feelings out. It's sort of like a physical cleanse, making you feel refreshed and anew. No need for a shrink, I've found great release and joy simply by running or doing some form of exercise. So if you're feeling low and you don't implement exercise into your daily routine perhaps this could be just what you need.

Write Out Your Frustrations

Take a few minutes each week to write out what has frustrated you over the last 7 days. Look it over only once. Then get rid of it. Rip it up to shreds. Cut it into pieces. Burn it. Do what whatever you want (safely of course) then throw it out. Your frustrations can never get the best of you if you recognize them, face them head on, and move on.

Question The Purpose of Your Life

We all have a grand purpose to our lives. Each and every single one of us was destined to be someone, to do something. Never let a day go by without living in a way that honors your existence and purpose. Are you wasting your time just watching life go by. Are you sitting down watching others travel, learn, and explore? Stop watching and get busy doing. You are full of potential and purpose but if you don't see it, or believe it, or work towards it, you'll be just as useful as a car without gas. o_o

Don’t Be Afraid to Start over

You have every right to stop when you don’t know where you're going and start all over. People may judge you or try to bring you down with poisonous discouraging words but don't let it get to you. It's your life and it's your choice. At the end of the day you have to be happy with yourself, for yourself, and by yourself. It doesn't matter what you did years before, last month, or yesterday, if you chose to change and grow then you can do it. A new start can be just the change you need to get out of your rut. Give yourself a chance; you're worth it.

No matter where you've been, each day you wake up is an opportunity to grow and succeed. Your life isn’t over when you hit a plateau. Remember that.

Live long and prosper
